Club have now signed a replacement for 23-year-old amid reports he is expected to join Arsenal

Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Evan Ndicka after Eintracht Frankfurt announced the signing of William Pacho.

What’s the story?

Well – according to a story from Calcio Mercato Web in January – Ndicka is expected to join Arsenal when his contract expires in July.

Now, that could have a semblance of truth about it as Eintracht Frankfurt announce the €9m (£8m) signing of Pacho from Royal Antwerp, while Ndicka is yet to commit himself to a new contract.

As detailed in Eintracht Frankfurt’s official announcement of the deal, the 21-year-old will join on July 1st 2023, which is the exact same date Ndicka’s contract is set to expire.

The pair both operate at centre-back. Therefore, it certainly seems as if Pacho is arriving to replace the 23-year-old at the Waldstadion.

Ndicka has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt so far this season, helping the German outfit reach the Champions League Round of 16.

The Frenchman is one of the most exciting young defenders in Europe, so if Arsenal are about to land him on a free transfer, it would be superb business from Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Ndicka arrival could see Holding leave Arsenal

If Ndicka is on his way to the Emirates Stadium, Rob Holding may be asking questions about his future.

The 27-year-old has only made one Premier League start this season after finding himself behind Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in the pecking order.
