We look at pictures of a younger E Jean Carroll as the civil trial against Donald Trump in an alleged sexual assault and defamation case was set in motion on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
The latest trial is one of many legal troubles the former President of the United States is embroiled in, including charges of 34 felony counts in a hush-money scheme.
However, Trump has denied all the allegations made by Jean and called her out for falsely accusing him of the heinous crime in her 2019 memoir: What Do We Need Men For?

Jean is now 79 years old and her latest spotting was at a New York federal court on Tuesday as her trial against Donald Trump began.
She has been a known figure in the media for years, especially considering her profession. A younger Jean has been photographed on many occasions, and she has shared pictures of herself from years ago on her social media too.
Below are two photos of a young Jean from her cheerleading days.

Meet the American author and journalist
Jean is best known for her role as the advice columnist for Elle magazine from 1993 through 2019.
But, long before she followed her passion for journalism, she was crowned Miss Indiana University in 1963 and won the Miss Cheerleader USA title in 1964.
Meanwhile, Jean’s column, which appeared on Elle for years, making it one of the longest-running advise columns in American publishing, focused on the author’s opinion on sex, with emphasis on women living independently without structuring their existence around men and how to navigate real-life situations.
Her talent stretches beyond print as she wrote for Saturday Night Live in the ’90s and received an Emmy nod for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program.
She hosted and produced her own television series called Ask E. Jean, which ran from 1994 to 1996 on NBC’s America’s Talking.
Jean also holds writing credits for a number of reputed magazines, including The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, Esquire, and Playboy.
Allegations against Donald Trump and what he has said
Jean has alleged that Trump sexually assaulted her in a department store in 1996.
She claimed the incident took place in a Bergdorf Goodman department store on Fifth Avenue in New York City when the former President was engaged in “playful banter” with her before the interaction took a “dark turn.”
Trump, however, called the allegations a “hoax”, a “con job” and a “complete scam”. Jean then sued him for defamation.
The court documents quote Trump saying: “So I say that sometimes to people. And I say can you imagine this? The concept of this? And it’s me. I — you know, a very famous person. It’s a disgrace. Frankly, it’s a disgrace that something like that can be brought.”
