Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that he has no intention to sanction a transfer for Arsenal-linked marksman Victor Osimhen.

Journalist Ciro Venerato reported in March that Mikel Arteta in particular was enticed by the prospect of securing his services.

However, it seems like Aurelio De Laurentiis could not care less, as he has refused to let Arsenal or any suitor complete a transfer for Victor Osimhen this summer.

Aurelio De Laurentiis says Arsenal target Victor Osimhen is not for sale

As Luciano Spalletti’s men drew 1-1 to Udinese on Thursday, the 24-year-old broke a record set by Samuel Eto’o to become the highest- scoring African player in a single Serie A season with 22 goals.

Osimhen, who also became a Serie A winner after Thursday’s clash has bagged 27 goals in all competitions, while being branded as ‘extraordinary’ by Alessandro Del Piero via Sky Italia.

While a transfer involving Victor Osimhen to Arsenal created a buzz amongst the Gunners fanbase, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis decided to be the bearer of bad news for them.

“I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer, no way”, he said, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

HITC View: A new striker is not a priority for this Arsenal side anyway

As incredible as it would have been to witness Victor Osimhen at Arsenal next season, their transfer priorities should be focused elsewhere.

For starters, the Nigerian striker would cost an arm and leg, and could potentially even eat up a chunk of their budget for the summer window.

To add to that, bringing in an upgrade for Granit Xhaka, an understudy to Bukayo Saka and a more available and attack-minded right-back than Takehiro Tomiyasu are areas that seriously need addressing.

The reason why Mikel Arteta’s side could finish second in the league this season is not down to Gabriel Jesus’ much-maligned profligacy in front of goal.

It is due to the fact that they dropped unnecessary points and gifted the most inevitable side in Premier League history a chance to stake a claim at a potential three-peat.
