Singing and acting extraordinaire Olivia Rodrigo has finally released her long-awaited new single, Vampire, and fans have been quick to link it to her ex-boyfriend, Adam Faze. Though the rumors have been dispelled by an anonymous source, social media is awash with people enquiring about the age gap between the pair.

It was always going to cause a viral stir whenever Rodrigo decided to drop her first single after a two-year wait, and the reaction to Vampire has not disappointed.
While the 20-year-old may not have released anything for a couple of years, her comeback single certainly isn’t lacking in the passion or venom that propelled her to stardom in the first place.
Among the slurry of impassioned, empowering callouts littered through the song, Rodrigo suggested that she had endured “six months of torture”. This, combined with the fact that the single was released exactly two years after she and studio executive Faze were first spotted together in public, prompted some to believe the song was about him.
The pair were confirmed to be dating back in July 2021, though were believed to have called it quits around seven months later.
Adam Faze and Olivia Rodrigo’s age gap explored
It’s well-documented that Rodrigo was remarkably young when her music began to take off, having released her celebrated debut album, Sour, aged just 18.
When Rodrigo and Faze were first spotted at the premiere of Space Jam 2 in July 2021, she was 18 and he was 24. This means that there is an age gap of six years between the musician and the video producer.
As they are only believed to have dated for a short period of time, both parties were the same age when they broke up as they were when they began seeing one another.
Faze diss rumors debunked
Despite the widespread rumors about whom Vampire may be aimed at, it would appear the target of the song is not as clear cut as many first thought.
That is according to People, anyway, who have claimed that Vampire is actually not aimed at Faze after all.
According to an anonymous source quoted by the magazine, “The song isn’t about Adam Faze,” though the mystery figure does not provide any clues as to who the track is really aimed at.
With Rodrigo’s sophomore project, GUTS, not set to be released until early September, we have a few more months of waiting until we’re given some more clues about the source of Rodrigo’s anger.
