Ahsoka mirrors a key scene in Star Wars Rebels that could potentially be foreshadowing Sabine Wren’s death.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Ahsoka and Star Wars Rebels* — The highly anticipated Ahsoka series has finally landed on Disney+ and fans of Star Wars Rebels will be delighted to know that the new show serves as a continuation of the animated series and with that comes plenty of parallels between both shows, particularly involving Sabine Wren.

Ahsoka mirrors key Star Wars Rebels scene

In episode 2 of Ahsoka, after recovering from her encounter with Shin Hati, Sabine prepares herself to join Ahsoka on her adventure.

We see her donning her Mandalorian armor before then cutting her hair into a style more akin to the one she has in Star Wars Rebels.

To do so, Sabine gathers her hair together in one hand and then slices it off with a knife.

The moment mirrors a scene from the fourth season of Rebels almost exactly where the Jedi, Kanan Jarrus, does the same thing before embarking on a dangerous mission to save Hera.

The scene could foreshadow Sabine’s death

While the parallels between the two scenes serve as a nice reference to the animated show, there is something a bit more troubling about what the mirrored scenes could mean.

Veteran fans of Rebels will know that in the same episode as Kanan’s haircut, season 4’s Jedi Night, he goes on to die by sacrificing himself to save the Ghost crew.

After Kanan rescues Hera, they meet Sabine and Ezra Bridger atop a large fuel pod at the Imperial refinery which the pursuing troopers fire upon.

Using the Force, Kanan shields his friends from the blast for long enough that they are able to escape, but he is engulfed in the fiery explosion.

If Ahsoka has already paralleled one scene with Sabine, who’s to say that the new story won’t also see the spirited Mandalorian meet her own death come the end of the series as Kanan did?

Fans react to the mirrored scenes

The mirrored scenes have quickly attracted plenty of attention from Star Wars fans with many taking to social media to offer up their thoughts.

One fan on X (aka Twitter), said: “I think I’ve seen this film before.”

To which another responded: “And I didn’t like the ending…”

“I think Dave [Filoni] 100% intended for this scene to be shot like Kanan’s scene,” commented another fan.

While this viewer said: “Surely this is foreshadowing Sabine’s death? Otherwise, what’s the point other than ‘oh look what we can do fan service?’ There is no ‘It’s like poetry it rhymes’ [as George Lucas used to say] unless it actually does.”

And finally, this fan wrote: “Sabine cutting her hair the same way Kanan did. Ahsoka saying, ‘she [Sabine] is so stubborn,’ and Hera replying, “she’s Mandalorian,” in the same way she did when Kanan was complaining to her about the same. So many parallels. This truly is Rebels season 5 and I love it.”
