Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
According to The Times, Arsenal are interested in signing Ivan Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford in the January transfer window and could make a bid.
The report has claimed that Arsenal are among a number of clubs who are keen on Toney, who grew up a Liverpool fan.
Toney is serving a ban at the moment and will be available to play again only in January 2024.
The Times has added that Brentford want as much as £80 million for the England international, who was described as a “brilliant” and “fantastic” striker by former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT (6:29pm, August 19, 2023).

If Arsenal want to sign Ivan Toney in January 2024 and could bid for the England international striker, they should just put in an offer now.
After all, if Arsenal genuinely think that the striker would make them better in the second half of the season, then what is stopping them from trying to sign him now?
Yes, Toney would be able to play only in January 2024, but at least Arsenal would not have to worry about other clubs trying to sign the 27-year-old striker in the middle of the season.
Yes, the summer transfer window will close in a matter of days and £80 million is a lot of money, but what about putting in a bid of £40 million or £50 million and then seeing what Brentford does?
We must note that we do not think that Toney is worth £80 million, but Brentford are a well-run Premier League club and the Bees are not going to sell the striker on the cheap.
Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.
