Ange Postecoglou worked with Jota at Celtic, and it seems that he could potentially work with the winger at Tottenham Hotspur as well.
According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are considering signing Jota, a player Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou worked with at Celtic.
The report has claimed that Jota is available on a loan deal just weeks after joining Al Ittihad from Celtic.
And Tottenham “have been alerted to the availability” of the winger, according to the report.
Jota is a very versatile winger who played under Spurs boss Postecoglou at Celtic.
According to The Scottish Sun, Al Ittihad paid Celtic £25 million in transfer fees for Jota and are paying the 24-year-old Portuguese winger £200,000 per week as salary.
Tottenham Hotspur should consider former Celtic winger Jota on loan deal
In our view, if Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a new winger in the summer transfer window, then a loan deal for former Celtic star Jota would not be a bad idea.
First of all, Tottenham would not have to commit to a long-term deal for the winger.
So, there would not be a risk in the long term in terms of it not working out financially.
Secondly, Tottenham could be able to do a deal with Al Ittihad where the Saudi Arabian club would pay most, if not all, of the winger’s wages.
Of course, Spurs could have to pay part of the salary for Jota, but Al Ittihad are a wealthy club.
They clearly have the funds to pay Jota £200,000 per week.
After all, Al Ittihad would not have signed Jota had they not been certain of paying his massive salary.
If Al Ittihad really wanted to offload Jota on loan for this season, then they could be prepared to pay most of his salary to make it easier for an exit.
Moreover, Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou knows Jota inside out from their time at Celtic.
That could help Jota succeed at Tottenham and in the Premier League.
