Rio Ferdinand says he ‘doesn’t understand’ why Arsenal fans are going at the throats of Eddie Nketiah, and especially, Kai Havertz.
The Manchester United legend says Arsenal fans are ‘going nuts’, as they want ‘Kai Havertz out’, even though he only signed for Mikel Arteta’s side this summer, whilst they also feel the same way about Eddie Nketiah.
Life hasn’t started as well as Havertz would have liked following his transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal, with Ferdinand making it clear that ‘people need time to adjust’, as he told Vibe with Five.
The dropped points at home to Fulham didn’t help matters, although, making a mistake after the first minute and gifting them a goal isn’t exactly making life easier – there were even suggestions that two players wanted Havertz dropped.
Either way, Nketiah, who scored on the opening day of the new Premier League season, was dropped for the weekend fixture but came on to score Arsenal’s second goal against Fulham.
Ferdinand shared his thoughts on Arsenal fans overreacting to situations, including certain players and their manager, Mikel Arteta.
“It’s mad your confidence (on thinking Arsenal will beat Man United),” said Ferdinand to an Arsenal fan. “I look at your fanbase, it’s all over the gaff. They are going nuts.
“Havertz out, the manager doesn’t know what he is doing, he is messing about with the team too much, Partey is playing right-back, Trossard isn’t coming in and doing his job.
“Eddie Nketiah we want him out. Doing the hokey cokey. You guys are all over the place. I don’t understand it, with Havertz. I understand he hasn’t hit the ground running, a bit like Mason Mount at Manchester United.
“The way you guys are absolutely ‘get him out. He shouldn’t be here’. I am talking about your fanbase. I don’t get it. If it was 10-15 games, I could see what they are saying. It’s three games, you know. People need time to adjust.”
Arteta needs to be trusted
The Arsenal boss has made many big calls during his time in the dugout, and at the time of the calls, it has caused quite a stir or debate.
The Havertz one can be added to that list, with fans having to be patient with the player and trust their manager he will come good.
At the end of the day, it’s only three games, so to expect Havertz to sing and dance during that time is just ridiculous.
