» » » ‘It'll depend’: Postecoglou says ‘genius’ Tottenham player could miss Liverpool match

James Maddison is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur fans must be looking forward to the attacking midfielder weaving his magic against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will lock horns with each other at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Both Tottenham and Liverpool are doing extremely well at the moment.

While Spurs are winning matches and are on track for a top-four finish in the Premier League table, Liverpool are looking more and more like their old selves and are now genuine challengers to Manchester City for the title.

James Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer transfer window and has hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 26-year-old England international attacking midfielder has scored two goals and given four assists in six Premier League appearances so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou on James Maddison for Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

While Spurs fans will be expecting Maddison, described as a “genius” by former Tottenham player Graham Roberts, to turn on the style against Liverpool, manager Ange Postecoglou has said that the playmaker could miss the match.

Postecoglou has also said that South Korea international forward Son Heung-min is a doubt.

The Tottenham boss said on Friday, as quoted in talkSPORT: “Madders and Sonny, they trained today, but will see how they are after training.

“Both got through everything we needed them to get through, but it’ll depend on how they pull up.”

Potential blow for Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to win against Liverpool if James Maddison does not start.

While Spurs have a very good team, Maddison is one of the playmakers around and is a key player in the side.

The Englishman creates chances for his teammates and is also a threat from set pieces.

Now, of course, Spurs are not a one-man team, but if Maddison does not start, then it would be hard for the North London club to pick up all three points from the match against Liverpool.
