Cristian Romero lauded James Maddison on Instagram after he starred once more in the colours of Tottenham Hotspur.

After getting knocked out of the EFL Cup by Fulham in midweek, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side headed into the Burnley game with a mixed mood.

Whilst they have started the new Premier League campaign in a strong fashion, the League Cup loss did dampen morale, well, only for a few days because they thrashed a sorry Vincent Kompany team 5-2 on Saturday, with captain Heung-min Son netting a ha-trick.

Already proving to be one of the signings of the summer, James Maddison got on the scoresheet once again taking his early season tally at Spurs to four goal contributions – although, legendary goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, has been critical of him.

For years, Tottenham have missed a player in the mould of Maddison and now that he has arrived, even without Harry Kane, he is singing and dancing like he’s a mixture of Rafael van der Vaart and Cristian Eriksen.

Maddison wrote on Instagram a simple message to the fans, with Cristian Romero posting in the comments section ‘What a player’.

“Love this team 🤍 Happy Saturdays boys and girls 😁🍻🎯,” wrote the England midfielder.

Maddison has brought Spurs to life

For a number of years, the Spurs fans have had to watch some abject performances from their team.

But, under Postecoglou, all of that has now transformed and Maddison has been at the heart of everything.

The £170k-a-week star (Telegraph) has big shoes to fill because that playmaker role at Spurs has seen some of the club’s best ever thrive, including perhaps the best of them all, Glenn Hoddle – the ex-England manager has already shared his thoughts on Maddison’s arrival.
