Liverpool are showing an interest in signing Sao Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo with Bayern Munich also keen.
Sao Paulo ace Lucas Beraldo is attracting interest from Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window.
That is according to a report from 90Min, who claim that Liverpool are taking a ‘keen interest’ in signing Beraldo.
The Reds already have four impressive centre backs with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez all vying for places.
Van Dijk and Matip are 32 though and the latter is out of contract next summer, meaning Liverpool may need to cast an eye towards the future.
Liverpool interested in Lucas Beraldo
It’s now suggested that Liverpoo are showing a keen interest in signing Sao Paulo talent Lucas Beraldo.
We have seen the Reds credited with an interest in signing Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade and another Brazilian is now on the radar.
The report claims that Wolves had a bid for Beraldo rejected in the summer and Liverpool are now looking to swoop in.
Bayern Munich are also keen on Beraldo with Ligue 1 duo Lyon and Monaco showing an interest too.
Sao Paulo recently struck an agreement to extend Beraldo’s contract but could still receive offers in 2024.
Who is Liverpool target Beraldo?
Beraldo was born in Piracicaba, just about two hours outside of Sao Paulo.
After starting out with local youth sides, Beraldo joined the Sao Paulo youth ranks in 2020.
The 19-year-old is now a first-team player at Sao Paulo, making 42 first-team appearances for the club.
Beraldo has been praised as ‘great’ by teammate Robert Arboleda, who thinks that the teenager’s vision on the ball is ‘crazy’.
Beraldo appears to have major potential for the future and he has been featuring for Brazil’s Under-20’s.
Senior caps could be on the way in the future for Beraldo, with a move to Europe surely a matter of when rather than if with Liverpool considering a move.
