YouTube users are frustrated with the pop-up message ‘video player will be blocked after 3 videos’ as the platform restricts views for those who use ad blockers.

The video streaming giant ran an experiment a while ago, impacting users worldwide and urging them to allow ads on the platform or subscribe to YouTube Premium to watch videos without being interrupted by advertisements.

‘Video player will be blocked after 3 videos’ error on YouTube explained

The error message ‘video player will be blocked after 3 videos’ pops up for users who have enabled an ad blocker on their browsers.

The error message intends to restrict users from streaming videos by skipping ads without signing up for its Premium service, which was developed to allow users to watch videos ad-free.

So, if you’re using an ad blocker while streaming content on YouTube, you will be met with a black screen as the video player will be blocked unless you choose to allow ads to play by disabling the ad blocker.

It is a common practice among social media users to use ad blockers to skip ads on video streaming platforms without having to pay an extra amount for the same experience.

But, YouTube’s action against ad-free streaming is being met with criticism as users don’t want to pay a special fee to access its Premium service.

Ad block pop-up annoys users

YouTube hasn’t left its users with much choice with regard to ad-free streaming on its platform, except for the option to subscribe to its Premium service. Users took to Elon Musk‘s platform to complain about the ad block pop-up.

“Welp. Just got a popup from YouTube telling me that the video player will be blocked after 3 videos because I’m using an ad blocker. Guess I’m moving over to Twitch then,” said one.

“The warning says ‘Video player will be blocked after 3 videos.’ The message below states ‘It looks like you may be using an ad blocker’.” Looks like this is the beginning of the end for you YouTube,” wrote another.

A third user said: “YouTube started doing this recently, it got to the point where they are threatening to block the video playback if you don’t allow ads, it’s a very annoying thing.”

How much is YouTube Premium?

YouTube Premium will cost you $13.99 a month. You can try the 1-month free trial and cancel it anytime if you aren’t satisfied with the service.

Aside from letting you stream videos ad-free, YouTube Premium also allows background play when your phone screen is locked.

Videos can be downloaded using the Premium service to watch later when you don’t have access to the Internet. You can also access YouTube Music Premium to listen to your favorite songs without interruptions.
