Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham will have to dig deep if they want to sign Gift Orban with Gent rejecting a £20 million bid from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 2022 Europa League champions do not tend to miss when signing centre-forwards. And Frankfurt obviously feel that Gift Orban is a fitting candidate to follow in the footsteps of Luka Jovic, Sebastian Haller, Andre Silva and Randal Kolo Muani.

Each of the aforementioned quartet earned Frankfurt a colossal profit after prolific spells at the Commerzbank Arena. And Orban, who has also caught the eye of Tottenham and Fulham, certainly shares their nose for goal.

Orban has scored 32 times in just 47 games since joining Gent from Stabaek in January.

With five trebles to his name, he has more hat-tricks than even Erling Haaland in 2023 too, and Gent are in no mood to let the Nigerian go on the cheap. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Frankfurt have failed an opening bid of £20 million.

Dino Toppmoller’s side, fresh of a 5-1 hammering of Bayern Munich, are expected to return with a new and improved offer. The ball, then, drops into the respective courts of Spurs and Fulham. The Premier League duo under pressure to submit a bid of their own if they are to avoid missing out on one of the hottest young marksmen in Europe.

Aleksandr Mitrovic’s successor?

According to TEAMtalk, Fulham have identified the 20-year-old ‘phenomenon’ as a potential replacement for the much-missed Aleksandr Mitrovic. Despite successive 5-0 wins over Nottingham Forest and West Ham, a striker is still wanted at Craven Cottage. Orban feels more attainable than Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart) and Santiago Gimenez (Feyenoord).

Tottenham are admirers of Orban too. But, after getting cold feet over the summer when Gent were demanding £25 million, it remains to be seen if Ange Postecoglou’s side plan to pick up in January where they left off in August.
