With December now well underway, the countdown to Christmas is most definitely on, meaning it’s the perfect time for film and TV fans to plan out their festive viewing and Disney+ promises plenty of new arrivals over the holiday season in 2023.

Festive content released in November

As soon as Halloween has passed, retailers and indeed streaming services turn their attention to Christmas and that’s certainly been the case on Disney+ this year with two major festive additions coming in November.

The month began with the arrival of The Santa Clauses season 2, with new episodes airing weekly, while a new festive heist movie, The Naughty Nine, premiered on November 23.

Notable releases throughout December

December, meanwhile, is poised to bring a mix of festive viewing and blockbuster arrivals.

Following its theatrical run earlier in the year, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny makes its streaming debut accompanied by a documentary looking back at the career of star Harrison Ford.

The month will also see the conclusion of The Santa Clauses season 2 while the remaining Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle, will air on the streaming service on December 2 and 9 outside of the UK and Ireland where they remain on the BBC.

One of the most notable additions in December is the series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a new adaptation of the beloved fantasy novel series by Rick Riordan with a two-episode premiere on December 20 ahead of a weekly release schedule thereafter.

Disney+ movies and series released over Christmas 2023

And finally, the festive period itself will also be a busy time for Disney+ subscribers, with plenty of content arriving to help viewers overcome their Christmas Dinner food comas.

The biggest talking point, of course, is the arrival of Marvel’s What If…? season 2 which will see nine episodes airing daily between December 22 and 30.

Elsewhere, the Doctor Who Christmas special, titled The Church on Ruby Road, will be streaming on December 25 itself – again this doesn’t include the UK and Ireland where Doctor Who remains on BBC platforms.

There will also be a host of Disney-themed festive specials over the holiday period too, with the arrival of the documentary Disney 100: A Century of Dreams which is streaming on December 22 after its initial broadcast on ABC as well as the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade.

All of the movies, series and festive specials listed above can be streamed on Disney+, although their availability may depend on the region you’re watching from.
