Darren Ambrose has hailed the decision-making of Bukayo Saka, but he has raised an issue in the Arsenal star’s game.

The 22-year-old is a key member of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League-title-pushing team and also a regular starter under Gareth Southgate for England.

But Darren Ambrose thinks Bukayo Saka is an ‘example of a product from the academy’ regarding how the Arsenal star plays the game, as he told Stadium Astro.

The former Newcastle midfielder added that the Hale-End academy star, ’99 out of 100 times’, makes the right decisions.

But he wants the left-footed superstar to be more ‘off the cuff’ like his England teammate, Phil Foden at Manchester City.

For years now, Bukayo Saka has been dominating on the right channel for Arsenal, but some feel his form has dipped off this season.

In order to change that all around, Darren Ambrose thinks he needs to think outside of the box a lot more.

Bukayo Saka – Arsenal’s Hale-End Academy star

“What I see with Bukayo Saka, and I have said this before, he is the example of a product from the academy,” said Ambrose.

“Not many things I have seen recently are off-the-cuff. When you look at Phil Foden, for instance, he can do things in a split second. Off the cuff. No-one knows he is going to do it.

“More often than not with Bukayo Saka. 99 times out of 100 decisions are the right decisions. But nothing is off the cuff. It’s all academy-based football, where everything is correct and everything is right.

“That’s one thing in his game that I think he needs to change. He’s talented enough. He has got the ability. He is the first choice for England. He just needs to change and do a little extra to try and create opportunities for himself and the team.”

Arsenal thrash Crystal Palace

Yes, Palace were woeful on Saturday and deserved every bit of beating that they got. But you still have to beat what is in front of you.

And after a very poor festive period, Arsenal stepped up and bagged themselves five goals and a much-needed three points.

Saka didn’t get on the scoresheet, nor did he provide an assist, which would have been annoying for the player because his confidence is clearly down.

But given how consistent he has been for Arsenal over the years, then he is allowed his mini dip and there’s no doubt he will be back in next to no time.
