Well, Manchester United took on Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
Rasmus Hojlund started the match for the Red Devils. And, he scored. The 21-year-old Denmark international striker found the back of the net in the 17th minute.
United defender Harry Maguire won a header at a corner, and Hojlund collected the knockdown before playing the ball through Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez’s legs.
It was the £64 million (BBC Sport) striker’s fifth goal in five matches for United. He is on fire at the moment.
Roy Keane was following the match for Sky Sports, and in the build-up to the game, the Manchester United legend noted how Hojlund has transformed in recent weeks.
When asked if Hojlund is starting to deliver, Keane said on Sky Sports Premier League (4:15 pm, February 11, 2024): “Absolutely. I think the last three or four weeks, of course, a striker needs a few goals to get that confidence, get that belief, and he has got that over the last four or five games.
“He looks a different player, he looks strong, he looks aggressive, he is taking his chances, he has got that desire to score goals. If you look at him, he is a big, strong boy.”
My View: Rasmus Hojlund is starting to flourish
Rasmus Hojlund is starting to deliver the goods for Manchester United in the Premier League. He was already banging in the goals in the UEFA Champions League for the Red Devils.
The striker is playing with confidence now and is getting chances. The Denmark international looks sharp and enthusiastic, and it seems that he can do no wrong at the moment. Michael Owen rates him highly.
Having said all that, I would have to urge caution. We have to let Hojlund play his natural game and develop at his own pace.
We must not forget the pressure that Hojlund is under. He is just 21 now, and he is leading the line for arguably the biggest club in England.
