Will Erik ten Hag still be Manchester United’s manager in the summer? And if not, who replaces the Dutchman?

There are many changes at the top of the house at Old Trafford and many are still questioning what that will result in.

The Glazers are still sitting on top of the tree, but with Sir Jim Ratcliffe now handed powers on the footballing side, many are expecting some sort of change.

Of course, if Manchester United win the FA Cup, secure Champions League football or even do both, then it would be surprising if Erik ten Hag is let go.

Either way, Nedum Onuoha doesn’t think there is a standout target as he brushed off suggestions of Gareth Southgate becoming Manchester United’s next manager, as he told ESPN.

The former Manchester City defender stated that Man United fans don’t want the England manager in their dugout.

The £96k-a-week man divides opinion on the international stage, with many questioning his ability to get the best out of his team.

Gareth Southgate at Manchester United

“I am sure, for some of those guys, they are quite keen for a change,” said Onuoha. “I think with Southgate, we only see the outside image. Nobody knows what it would be like on a day-to-day basis.

“It’s fair to say that managers over time, they do change and the last time he was in club management was a while ago, so maybe there are lessons he will be taking on board should he go there, which would benefit him.

“But it’s fair to say, quite a lot of people aren’t having Gareth Southgate as a manager at all. It does leave this awkward feeling. But realistically, for Man United, what do you want?”

Gareth Southgate and England at Euro 2024

Look, all this talk around Southgate and Manchester United simply won’t go away until everyone knows who will be in charge at the club beyond the summer.

If England win Euro 2024, then it will only boost Southgate’s reputation.

But sources have told HITC Football that, as things stand, Manchester United are planning for next season with ten Hag in mind.

As mentioned above, beating Liverpool in the FA Cup was huge for the former Ajax man, it’s now a case of using that momentum for when players return from their international commitments.
