Celtic are Scottish Premiership champions once again having smashed Kilmarnock 5-0 at Rugby Park, securing top spot in the process.

The Bhoys had the title in their grasp having beaten Rangers 2-1 at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Rangers beat Dundee on Tuesday night but Celtic still knew that just one point from their final two games would secure the title.

Brendan Rodgers’ side instead decided to wrap it all up in style with a thumping win at Rugby Park.

Celtic were 3-0 up by the break as Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest all found the net in a superb display.

Matt O’Riley added two goals in the second half to seal an absolute thrashing and another league title.

That is now three league titles in a row for Celtic and everybody connected to the Bhoys will be in celebratory mood.

Jeremie Frimpong sends Celtic message

That even goes for Jeremie Frimpong, who left Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen back in January 2021.

The 23-year-old turned out 51 times for Celtic before going on to become a key part of Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible Bundesliga title win under Xabi Alonso.

Frimpong may now be considered as one of the top attacking right wing backs in world football – and is looking to win the Europa League – but he hasn’t forgotten about Celtic.

The Dutchman has taken to social media to send a message to Celtic fans after seeing the club win the title once again.

‘Both champions, love it’ wrote Frimpong, noting that he and Leverkusen are title-winners and so are Celtic this season.

Frimpong added a heart-eyes emoji, signifying that his love for Celtic still burns strong.

Frimpong could earn Celtic cash this summer

HITC understands that Manchester City have opened talks to try and bring Frimpong back to the club this summer.

City allowed Frimpong to join Celtic in 2019 but now want him back at the Etihad Stadium after witnessing his excellence for Leverkusen.

Celtic will be paying close attention as they stand to take 30% of the profit on Frimpong’s sale.

Frimpong has a £34million release clause in his contract and having sold him for £11.5million, Celtic would therefore stand to bring in around £6.75million.

That would be a nice amount to add into the kitty for Celtic, but all focus will be on another outstanding title win for now.
