» » » ‘I would be very surprised’: Gordon Dalziel sends Celtic a clear Greg Taylor transfer message

Celtic are starting to bring the new faces in and getting their summer transfer window started.

Pre-season is underway, the Celtic players are getting the miles in their legs and Brendan Rodgers is hungry for more success.

There were bumps in the road last time out, even though Rodgers delivered the title for Celtic, with recruitment set to play a huge part in the type of mood fans will be in by the end of the window.

Celtic have already signed goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, but he isn’t going to be the only one, with contract details revealed as Kasper Schmeichel edges closer to Celtic move.

That’s the goalkeeping department, if everything goes as expected, then Paulo Bernardo will return and he wants the Celtic move, sources have told HITC.

Whilst all those deals are lifting the mood of the fanbase, Gordon Dalziel added that he would be ‘very surprised’ if the champions don’t conclude more business.

Greg Taylor is the starting left-back at Parkhead, with Alexandro Bernabei being loaned out.

Dalziel feels with the window open, it’s an area the Bhoys need to look at because it’s going to be a ‘long season’ ahead, as he told Clyde 1.

The former Rangers man also pointed towards the centre-back positions and how added depth will be needed.

Celtic urged to bring in Greg Taylor cover

“I am a Greg Taylor fan, I think Greg Taylor has been brilliant for Celtic,” said Dalziel.

“But I think they need cover there. Bernabei away now. They need someone over there because it’s a long season and a lot of games to play. I would certainly be looking at the centre-half position as well.

“I think Celtic will do a good bit of business in the next couple of weeks. I would be very surprised if they bring in just two goalkeepers. Bernado they are trying to get back. I am sure that Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to get more players through the door.”

Brendan Rodgers’ second season

The second, second season if you want to call it. This is where he really showcases his truth worth.

Yes, Celtic won the double last season, but you feel for parts of that campaign, the team were still trying to get used to Rodgers’ ways after Ange Postecoglou’s departure and several performances were a bit average.

But this is where the champions of Scotland stick their chest out and dominate further.

Rodgers has gone unbeaten and cleaned house in Scotland before and you wouldn’t be surprised if it happens again, especially with Rangers set to play away from Ibrox for the start of the season.
