- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
West Ham United are one of the clubs who have been offered the chance to sign former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Under new manager Julen Lopetegui, West Ham United have made some key additions to their team with former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman joining the Hammers.
The Hammers have also signed Palmeiras midfielder Luis Guilherme for a fee in the region of £20 million and the Brazilian teenager could be a key signing for the East London side.
However, another midfielder could well be on the cards and that could be former Premier League icon N’Golo Kante, who won two league titles in England during his time at Leicester City and Chelsea.
Kante offered to every London based Premier League club
Sources have told HITC that Kante’s representatives have offered the French midfielder around the Premier League with the London based clubs in particular.
This would be West Ham, Brentford, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea who could be an option for the midfielder.
West Ham are understood to be interested in the Frenchman but a deal would certainly not be an easy one for the Hammers to do.
This is because of the Frenchman’s wages that he currently earns at the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. However, sources have told HITC that Kante would be willing to take a pay cut to move this summer.
He has made 30 Pro League appearances for the Saudi club last season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
West Ham would be taking a risk signing Kante
Whilst the signing of Kante would be a frutiful one, depending on the fee and the wages he would want at the club, it would be a risk.
Kante’s last Premier League outing for Chelsea came in the 2022-2023 campaign but the Frenchman started just seven league games for the club.
Although, these questions over Kante’s injury concerns have somewhat been alleviated with the midfielder’s performances at Euro 2024.
“I thought he was absolutely outstanding,” Gary Neville told ITV Sport after France’s 1-0 win over Austria. “Tonight really was a fantastic performance, the best player on the pitch I thought.”
“He looked like a younger version of himself tonight,” Roy Keane added.
