Emerson Royal has left Tottenham Hotspur and joined AC Milan.
This transfer shouldn’t be a surprise because Emerson Royal had fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.
Pedro Porro had made that right-back spot his own and it was time for the Brazilian to move on.
Despite that, Emerson Royal was still a popular figure with the Tottenham players and that was proven when he left.
Sergio Reguilon was one of several Tottenham players to react to Royal’s exit and it will be interesting to see how Spurs use that money.
It’s fair to say that Royal, with his own supporters, was a marmite-like figure because he could be error-prone and lack that consistency in his game.
But he isn’t the only player at Hotspur Way who is in that boat because you can add Richarlison to that list too.
Simon Jordan praised Richarlison for turning down a move to Saudi, with the forward now a bench player for Postecoglou.
Tottenham have secured the signing of Dominic Solanke which proves that, but Richarlison still has a fan in the club’s now-departed right-back.
Royal took to his Instagram story to tell his fellow countryman that he will ‘always root for your success’.

“I love you, (Richarlison),” wrote Royal. “I will always root for your success.”
Richarlison’s future at Tottenham
Sources have previously told HITC about Tottenham’s stance on selling Richarlison, with some arguing that he should go.
He is number two to Solanke now and is also behind his captain Son Heung-min if he ever wanted to play out on the left.

Richarlison initially scored one Premier League goal in his debut campaign at Spurs, but improved last term by netting 11.
Despite that, Postecoglou has still pushed the club to go and sign another forward, which probably tells you everything you need to know.
