Arsenal’s big-money signing this summer has been Riccardo Calafiori.

Whilst fans are delighted that Arsenal have further strengthened their defence, many feel other areas of the pitch probably needed bulking up, before anything else.

Arsenal missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City last season and the pressure is on Mikel Arteta more than ever before.

One area of the pitch that was constantly discussed last season was Arsenal’s forward line and how Bukayo Saka needed cover.

The worry is that the 22-year-old is playing far too many games, with no one really pushing him for a starting spot given that Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are fighting it out on the other flank.

That’s why some Arsenal fans were calling for their team to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves given that he can operate on the right wing and is an explosive player.

But instead, Neto has secured a transfer from Wolves to Chelsea and he is set to play across the other side of London.

Darren Bent admitted that he is gutted by this because he wanted Neto in Arsenal colours and how he is a ‘great player’, as he told talkSPORT

The former striker did question his Chelsea move and how he is joining a team that is ‘loaded’ in the positions he wants to play.

“Honestly. I would have loved Arsenal to have got him, Neto, because he is a great player,” said Bent.

“But he is going to a loaded Chelsea squad. On that side already, they have got Sterling, who plays on the left, they have got Mudryk, who plays on the left, and now Neto.”

Arsenal and Chelsea’s summer transfer window

It’s fair to say that one has been crazier than the other. Chelsea have once again spent, spent and spent.

It isn’t pleasing supporters because Conor Gallagher has left Chelsea and fans would have preferred for him to stay.

On top of that, Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea not long after the previous season ended, which means another start for another manager at a club seemingly going nowhere.

Meanwhile, it’s all rosy in the garden at the Emirates for Mikel Arteta because Arsenal feel they just need that extra little push and they will win the Premier League title.
