Rangers have announced that they have rekindled their iconic partnership with Umbro ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Kits will be released at 8am on May 14, in a move that should remind the Gers’ faithful of better times and spark hopes of similar successes in years to come.

The footballing giants are set to finish second in the Scottish Premiership and have been unable to really lay a glove on bitter rivals Celtic this season, as the Bhoys moved level with Rangers on 55 league titles.

Along with the fresh threads, Rangers will be in the search for a new manager this summer after dismissing Philippe Clement in February.

Barry Ferguson has led the team since then, but is set to vacate the position to make room for a full-time replacement this summer. Ferguson had been keen to close the gap between Rangers and Celtic, but has fallen short.

Umbro set for iconic Rangers return through shirt partnership

Castore began sponsoring Rangers at the beginning of the 20/21 campaign, a season which saw Steven Gerrard lead the club to an invincible Scottish Premiership title.

Umbro were acquired by Castore in 2024, allowing Rangers to be reunited with their iconic kit partner.

It will be the first time since the 2012/13 season that the brand will be displayed upon the Gers’ iconic blue kit, a welcome return at the end of a miserable season for the club.

The Gers’ magnificent record with Umbro

Rangers and Umbro are one of British football’s most iconic partnerships, due to the era of excellence the pair enjoyed in the past.

From 1964 to 1990, Umbro sponsored the club as the Gers romped to a wealth of honours, including six league titles, six Scottish Cups, 11 League Cups and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

The pair would reunite in 2005, and would go on to bag a further three league titles, two Scottish Cups, three League Cups, alongside reaching the 2008 Europa League final.

This consistent competitiveness will be somewhat alien to the Rangers supporters today, who have been resigned to witnessing Celtic enjoy a residency of success in Scottish football.

Therefore, as a new era gets ready to start at Ibrox, the return of a familiar face in the form of Umbro could prove to be a good omen for the Gers.

If the club can achieve similar success in their third spell with the manufacturer, Umbro will endear itself further into the hearts of the Rangers faithful, who will be desperate to prevent Celtic pulling ahead in the all-time league title records next season.
