Report: Tottenham in talks to sign 'fantastic' player after Maddison amid shock departure rumour

Tottenham Hotspur remain in talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba amid rumours about Cristian Romero’s future.

Cristian Romero is being linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur amid talks to sign Edmond Tapsoba.

The London Evening Standard report that talks between Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen are continuing over a deal for Tapsoba.

An agreement is proving a little tricky to reach and Tottenham continue to try and tempt the Bundesliga side into selling.

Claims from the Daily Mail last week suggested that Tottenham were likely to sign Tapsoba with the defender keen on making the move.

Nearly a week has passed though and Tottenham are yet to find an agreement with Leverkusen, leaving the deal in limbo.

Tottenham have been focusing on signing James Maddison but with a deal now imminent, they could focus on Tapsoba next.

Hailed as a ‘fantastic’ player by Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes, Tapsoba has impressed in the Bundesliga and seems perfect for the Premier League.

Tottenham are chasing another Bundesliga defender in Wolfsburg star Micky van de Ven, which may leave Spurs fans thinking it’s him or Tapsoba.

However, there could be a twist on the horizon…

Juventus want Cristian Romero amid Tottenham’s pursuit of Edmond Tapsoba

Argentinian reporter Gaston Edul claims on Twitter that Serie A side Juventus are keen to sign Cristian Romero.

Some will remember that Juventus actually signed Romero from Genoa back in 2019.

However, Romero never made a single appearance for Juventus as he spent his time on loan at Genoa and Atalanta instead.

Romero’s move to Atalanta was turned permanent in 2021 and he was moved straight out on loan to Tottenham, who also took him on loan before a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old has been one of Tottenham’s better defenders in his time at the club though even the most ardent Spurs fans would admit that Romero can be a little rash.

Juventus could now make a move to sign Romero and who knows? Maybe the Argentina international will fancy finally making it in Turin.

That would potentially pave the way for both Tapsoba and Van de Ven to arrive this summer, forming a right-foot and left-foot partnership at the back.

That’s an interesting prospect but unless Romero leaves, we do think it will be either Tapsoba or Van de Ven rather than both.

Report: Barcelona 'very disappointed' with 20-year-old amid uncertain future

Barcelona are reportedly frustrated with attacker Ansu Fati, as the player is refusing to leave despite Barcelona’s desperation to solve their financial issues.

The 20-year-old wonderkid has not been at his best since suffering a long-term injury, and with regular minutes far from guaranteed next season, he is seen as a sellable asset.

There is reportedly interest in the player, but the La Masia graduate is refusing to leave, much to Barcelona’s annoyance.

A report in AS has explained that, if Barcelona were to sell Fati, it would be of great benefit in terms of financial fair play, given that a sale would be pure profit, but they are ‘very disappointed’ at his reluctance to leave.

Fati is behind Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski in the pecking order across the entire front three.

Should Barcelona sell Fati?

The Spain international was regarded as La Masia’s biggest talent when he broke into the Barcelona team, setting a new record for the youngest player to wear the Blaugrana shirt.

He was given Lionel Messi’s shirt number following his shock departure, highlighting how highly regarded he once was.

Fati has failed to return to his best form following his injury, but still scored ten goals in all competitions last season, and at just 20, there is still plenty of time to revive his Barcelona career.

The financial benefit of a sale may be too good for Barcelona to turn down, especially given the reported Premier League interest in the Spaniard, but Fati is arguably well within his rights to turn down a move away and fight for his place at the Camp Nou.

Selling La Masia’s biggest talents in favour of funding bigger transfers is a significant move away from the policy which made Barcelona so successful in the past. Unless an extraordinary offer arrives, Barcelona should perhaps give Fati another chance to prove himself at the club.

'Price is so big': Journalist has bad news for Tottenham regarding centre-back they 'love'

Alasdair Gold has shared that Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is a player that Tottenham Hotspur ‘love’, but there is a major stumbling block in signing him.

The Tottenham transfer expert added that the ‘price is too big’ to sign the 22-year-old centre-back and a lot of competition for his signature, as he told his own YouTube channel.

Marc Guehi has been a key figure for Palace in recent years and now he is an England international, as he tries to push for a starting birth under Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2024.

After a season of decline, which saw the team miss out on Europe and struggle in huge ways at the back, many are now calling for change to the club’s backline.

Given that there is a new manager in the house, Ange Postecoglou might just prove to be a little kinder and give those previously struggling stars another chance, even though fans don’t want that.

But if some big names are booted out, then someone like Guehi, and the road he is going down, would be an outstanding purchase, but Gold had bad news for those who would like to see him at Hotspur Way.

“There are a fair few defenders out there,” said Gold. “Marc Guehi as well. One that they love, but I think the price is just going to be so big for them and the competition for him as well.”

New centre-backs needed

Whether it’s Guehi, Edmond Tapsoba, or somebody else. At the very least, Levy needs to bring in new faces at the back to liven things up and add competition.

The crop from last season, who have been in north London for a while now, have become stale and they need replacing.

Ideally, if it was up to Spurs fans, they would boot most of them out, but Postecoglou still has to be given the chance to turn the form of a few of them around.

'He will be at Arsenal': Perry Groves claims after Havertz 'very good passer' will join

Perry Groves has backed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax, as they are set to make Kai Havertz their first signing of the summer.

The Chelsea playmaker is closing in on a deal to the Emirates, as Groves added about Jurrien Timber, if he joins, then he will become a ‘squad player’ under Mikel Arteta, as he told talkSPORT.

The 22-year-old played as a centre-back all last season for Ajax, but he has the ability to also play as a right-sided fullback, so from that perspective, there is a lot to play and work with.

It could be argued that one of the main reasons why Arsenal fumbled the Premier League title last season was because of their defence and costly errors.

The injury, during the final few months of the campaign, to William Saliba didn’t help matters, as Timber will provide that added quality in depth if he joins.

But former Highbury man Groves did warn Arteta that, with the club set to return to the Champions League, he has to ‘learn how to rotate’ his squad.

“The players you are talking about, Timber and Lavia, they are more for squad depth,” said Groves. “I would say Jurrien Timber will be at Arsenal.

“I think Arteta has to learn how to rotate his squad a little bit better – Arteta likes to get his business done early.”

Timber on the ball

All of Arsenal’s backline are outstanding with the ball at their feet and it’s a big reason why they caused so many issues last season.

It could be argued that a player like Timber, who has 15 caps for the Netherlands to his name, would actually elevate that.

Arsenal transfer expert Charles Watts shared some insight into the player and how people who know him feel he will be a ‘very, very good addition’ to the Gunners and how he is a ‘very good’ passer of the ball.

Report: West Ham now plotting huge bid for Arsenal target to replace Declan Rice

West Ham United are back in the hunt for Everton star Amadou Onana as they eye up potential midfield additions.

Everton ace Amadou Onana is wanted by West Ham United as they prepare for life without Declan Rice.

That is according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, who reports that West Ham boss David Moyes is ready to move for Onana.

It’s stated that West Ham view Onana as a potential replacement for Declan Rice in Moyes’ midfield.

Rice seems likely to move on this summer with Arsenal ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign him.

Rice would surely cost around £100million, leaving West Ham with big money to reinvest into their own squad.

Onana is one target having shown a defensive side of his game as well as the ball-carrying that Rice provides in the West Ham midfield.

The Belgian showed huge potential for Everton this past season and Everton would allegedly sell for a fee between £40million and £50million.

West Ham United could finally sign Amadou Onana

The idea would be to bring in Onana as a replacement after West Ham missed out on a deal last summer.

The London Evening Standard reported in July 2022 that Moyes was confident of signing Onana from Lille.

Fabrizio Romano added that West Ham did have a proposal accepted for Onana but he wanted to join Everton instead.

Moyes hasn’t forgotten about Onana though and may not hope that it’s second time lucky in his pursuit of the 21-year-old.

West Ham may face a real battle for Onana though with other clubs interested.

Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri claimed earlier this month that Chelsea had restarted talks to sign Onana having targeted him in January.

Het Nieuwsblad also reported in April that Arsenal are in constant talks with Onana’s representatives to discuss a summer move.

Arsenal seem to be focusing on Rice though, which may pave the way for the Hammers to pounce for Onana.

Hailed as a ‘leader’ by Jamie Redknapp, Onana would be an exceptional signing for West Ham and a smart investment with the Rice cash.

'They aren't going to compete with Man United': Hislop says Newcastle won't buy Englishman

Shaka Hislop says Newcastle United aren’t going to buy Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane because they are doing things in a ‘sensible’ manner.

Despite being the wealthiest team in the Premier League, Hislop added that Newcastle United ‘aren’t going to financially compete right now with Manchester United‘ and buy players like Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, as he told ESPN.

A lot of that will be down to FFP restrictions and the Magpies still trying to build their way up again, after all, this is the first time they are in the Champions League after two decades.

But many expect them to stay where they are, or in actual fact, probably take steps forward again and do what Manchester City and Chelsea do and that is spend their way to trophies.

Whilst money has been put down on the table, including breaking the club’s transfer record and they might go again with Sandro Tonali, it has perhaps been a more laid-back approach than most expected.

It’s worked a treat because it has pushed the team into the Champions League and former Newcastle keeper Hislop expects it to stay that way amid talk of why they aren’t looking to sign Kane from Spurs.

“As I have said, from day one, the expectation at Newcastle is that they will grow slowly and sensibly,” said Hislop. “They aren’t going to overspend, but they aren’t going to go in for the biggest-name players. They are going to grow as how Eddie Howe continues to lead.

“They see this as a real long-term project. Even though they have the finances to buy just about who they want, in both the short and long term. That’s how they aren’t going to do things. It doesn’t really surprise me that Newcastle aren’t in for Harry Kane or Kylian Mbappe or anywhere else.

“I get it. But that’s what Newcastle aren’t going to do. They aren’t going to financially compete right now with Manchester United etc… They are happy to spend £70 million on Tonali, who is what 24? And see that as a longer-term project and one that they feel they can get a return on.”

Will Kane return to the Champions League?

Tottenham won’t be in any form of Europe next season, which means no midweek games for one of the best strikers in Europe.

That’s a crying shame because, never mind trying to win trophies, he should, at the very least, be competing in the Champions League.

Now, if Spurs manage to keep hold of the 29-year-old, then they have waved the magic wand in a special way, but if they lose him, then it has to be to a team competing right at the top.

As per the outlet, Mark has an estimated net worth of $96 billion. He is one of the richest people in the world and among the 100 richest people, he is the youngest.

The majority of his net worth comes from the shares he owns on Facebook. It has been reported that he currently owns 400 million total shares of Facebook.

His company Meta, also recently acquired Instagram, making his net worth grow in a short span of time.

In 2022, he even went on to acquire Twitter and completely changed the face of social media. At the same time, his brain chip firm, Neuralink also got a big breakthrough when the FDA approved human trials.

With a lot going on, one can only expect Elon’s net worth to increase.
