The Italian news outlet has claimed that Dembele’s release clause of €50 million (£44 million) in his Barcelona contract is very appealing to Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Juventus and Inter Milan also hold interest in the France international forward, but the Serie A clubs will not be able to compete with the Premier League giants financially.
The report has added that last summer Manchester United tried to sign Dembele, whose “pace is frightening in training”, according to comments from former Barcelona star Lionel Messi in GiveMeSport in March 2020.
Could a summer transfer to Premier League happen?
In our view, if Ousmane Dembele’s release clause is just €50 million (£44 million), then a move to Chelsea or Manchester United could well happen, although it may not be so easy for Newcastle United.
Manchester United and Chelsea are two of the biggest clubs in the world, and a player like Dembele would be tempted to move to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.
After all, we know that the Red Devils and the Blues regularly challenge for major trophies.
Now, Newcastle are a club on a up and are trying to establish themselves among the ‘elite’, but if they do finish in the Premier League top four, then Dembele may not be too keen on a move to the Magpies even if they are ready to pay his release clause.
