Leeds United want Konstantinos Mavropanos but may miss out with Eintracht Frankfurt now in talks to sign the Stuttgart defender.

Bild reporter Christian Falk claimed last month that Leeds did actually try a January move to sign Mavropanos.

However, no deal was done and Mavropanos ended up staying with Stuttgart at least until the end of the season.

Falk did though note that Leeds may return with a new move for Mavropanos at the end of the season.

The Whites have seen Robin Koch linked with a move away and Mavropanos may well be viewed as a potential replacement for the German.

Former Arsenal man Mavropanos is currently mired in a relegation battle with Stuttgart but he may be on his way out regardless of their Bundesliga fate.

Eintracht Frankfurt in talks to snatch Leeds United target Konstantinos Mavropanos

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are now very interested in signing Mavropanos.

It’s stated that Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche is a ‘big fan’ of Mavropanos and now wants to sign him.

Plettenberg adds that talks have already taken place and more negotiations are expected to come very soon.

Plettenberg also claims that Mavropanos does want to leave Stuttgart this summer and he is interested in Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old seemingly wants to take the next step in his career and Stuttgart’s repeated troubles make an exit likely.

Mavropanos has already tried English football once and struggled to really break through with Arsenal.

The Gunners ended up selling Mavropanos for just £3million last summer.

It may well be that Mavropanos now feels at home in Germany and would fancy staying in the Bundesliga by joining Frankfurt.

Leeds will have to hope that they can sell Mavropanos on the idea of finally being a success in the Premier League – if the Whites can stay up.
