Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga could be given an exit route with Vincent Kompany keen to take him to Burnley.

Burnley could now pounce to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga as Vincent Vompany targets a reunion.

That is according to Voetbalkrant in Belgium, who claim that Burnley are looking to sign two Belgian stars this summer.

The first target is Genk winger Mike Tresor, who has ended the season with a ridiculous 24 assists.

Then there is Lokonga with Kompany allegedly hoping to sign the Arsenal man this summer.

The deal in mind is a loan with option to buy, giving Burnley the chance to keep Lokonga for years to come.

The chance to reunite with Kompany may be very appealing to Lokonga.

Lokonga emerged at Anderlecht under Kompany, making 39 appearances under the former Manchester City captain.

Lokonga bagged three goals and three assists in those games, resulting in a 2021 move to Arsenal.

Kompany is a huge fan of Lokonga, previously comparing him to Yaya Toure and calling him ‘special’.

Kompany raved about Lokonga when speaking to Arteta before the Arsenal move, and he may now want a favour from the Gunners boss.

Albert Sambi Lokonga may need Arsenal exit

Arsenal fans were excited when Lokonga arrived in 2021, in part because of Kompany’s huge praise.

The 23-year-old made a bright start and looked set to become an important player for Arsenal moving forward.

However, Lokonga seemed to lose confidence in 2022 and ended up being loaned to Crystal Palace in January.

Lokonga will be looking to prove himself this summer but it’s hard to see where he gets in the team.

Lokonga didn’t look like an ideal fit in a holding role and Arsenal already have Thomas Partey and Jorginho for that role.

If Lokonga wants to play further forward, he would find competition from Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and probably a new signing – somebody like Declan Rice.

It just doesn’t feel like Lokonga has a clear role at Arsenal right now and going to play regularly at Burnley, under a manager who knows and loves him, may be ideal.
