Pundit Scott Minto blasted Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero for his defending for Jadon Sancho’s opener as his side drew 2-2 to Manchester United.

The £42.5 million (Football.London) man was simply too passive for the goal, allowing the England international to cut inside and pick his spot.

Pundit Scott Minto pinpointed this very aspect as he criticised Cristian Romero for Tottenham in their draw against Manchester United.

What pundit Scott Minto said about Cristian Romero as Tottenham drew to Manchester United

The World Cup winner’s performances have been called into question ever since he returned from Qatar, as he has been simply woeful ever since.

From rash tackles to needless red cards, mindless decision-making and poor defensive awareness, Romero has looked like a shadow of his usual self for a chunk of the ongoing campaign.

As Tottenham centre-half Cristian Romero failed to cover himself in glory against Manchester United, Scott Minto picked up on his mistake and called him out on it.

“It’s too simple. It’s like the first goal at St James’ Park. There are three Spurs players, someone has to stop the shot. Make a block. Romero is too busy trying to make sure his hands are behind his back”, he said on talkSPORT.

“Just get closer to him! Get tighter! It’s wonderful from Sancho but it’s basic defending.”

Clearly, there is one hell of a central defender in the Argentine, as was reflective in his debut season in the Premier League.

However, as pundit Scott Minto said, Cristian Romero was far too disappointing for Tottenham once again in their crucial clash against Manchester United.

While Romero’s defensive partners usually get blamed for perhaps dragging him down, he seems like the weakest link in the backline nowadays.

For a player that possesses as much quality, especially in what is a defensive setup geared for pure defenders such as him to thrive, he must up his showings and fast.
