Alan Shearer named Declan Rice in his latest Premier League Team of the Week for his efforts against Arsenal.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the West Ham United captain in recent months.
And speculation between the Gunners and the England midfielder has been picking up pace of late.
The Independent recently claimed that there have already been back-channel overtures.
Arsenal apparently see personal terms between themselves and Rice as easy to sort.
Indeed, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly already planning for the 2023-24 campaign with Rice in mind.
Meanwhile, the England international seems to be eager to link up with the Gunners.
The Independent says Rice has raved about Arsenal while watching them with the rest of the West Ham squad.
On Sunday, the 24-year-old helped his side get back into the game after falling 2-0 down.
He got the better of Arsenal star midfielder Thomas Partey as he teed up Lucas Paqueta to win a penalty.
Said Benrahma duly converted, before the Hammers then equalised on 54 minutes through Jarrod Bowen.
Rice’s efforts against Arsenal led to Shearer naming him in his XI for matchweek 31.
“When West Ham were 2-0 down to Arsenal and in need of inspiration,” he wrote on the Premier League website.
“He provided it as the Hammers fought back against the leaders.”
Our view
Rice is a world-class player and, by the sounds of it, seems eager to join Arsenal.
He’d be a game-changing signing for the Gunners, who are keen to continue on their upward trajectory.
Arsenal and their fans were once again able to see up close just how good Rice is.
However, dealing with West Ham will not be easy, and we could well see this saga go on for much of the summer.
With talks of Rice potentially costing £100million, there will likely be a lot of negotiations to try and clinch a deal.
