» » » 'Loses his head': Tim Sherwood blasts £23m Tottenham player, praises actions of Everton ace

Tim Sherwood was critical of Lucas Moura for ‘losing his head’ during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night.

The former Tottenham boss praised Michael Keane, who was on the end of that near ankle-breaking challenge, and how he ‘jumped up straight away’ – perhaps Harry Kane could learn a thing or two.

Lucas Moura had been on the pitch for less than ten minutes, before his late studs-up tackle caught Keane on the top of the ankle and the on-field referee, David Coote, had no choice but to provide the £23 million Spurs star (BBC Sport) his marching orders.

It was a pretty eventful and drama-filled second half of action on Merseyside, after a goalless opening 45 minutes.

Two red cards, a penalty, Harry Kane scoring against Jordan Pickford again and a long-range equaliser from a defender. A lot of big calls and a lot of big moments.

In the end, the on-field calls from the referee were spot on, as Moura would have been hurting because, moments after he went off, Keane stuck the ball into the back of the net, with Sherwood touching upon the action, as he told Premier League Productions (03/04/23 at 9:55 pm).

“Moura loses his head, it was a bad tackle,” said Sherwood. “A very bad tackle.

“You know, Michael Keane deserves a lot of credit. He jumps up straight away, he doesn’t try to get him sent off and just lets the referee do his job because it was an obvious red card.”

THE END OF THE ROAD FOR MOURA

Given the circumstances of Moura’s sending-off, it’s understandable that he was going to get some stick, that’s probably why his wife took to social media to defend her husband.

But this could be the end of the road for the 30-year-old, who is set to leave in the summer, so should Cristian Stellini leave him on the sidelines, even when he returns from his ban?

Either way, he won’t want it to end this way because, despite his error at Goodison Park, he has served Spurs well over the years and will want to help them push over that Champions League line.
