Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Rennes defender Loic Bade just months after he was let go by Nottingham Forest.

That is according to a new report from The Sunday Mirror (23/04, p74) as they claim that Bade is attracting interest.

The Rennes centre back is currently out on loan at Sevilla after a dismal spell at Nottingham Forest.

Bade joined Forest on loan for the season as he completed a late deadline day move to the City Ground.

The move was a disaster though as Bade failed to make even a single appearance for Forest before returning to Rennes.

The Ligue 1 side immediately sent Bade off to Sevilla and things are going much better.

Bade has impressed in the Sevilla back line and even scored against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Tottenham are seemingly watching Bade’s progress and could make a £10million move for him this summer.

Loic Bade has impressed away from Nottingham Forest

Bade emerged at Lens, just like another French centre back – Raphael Varane.

The official Ligue 1 website even compared Bade to Varane, predicting big things for him.

A 2021 move to Rennes materialised and Bade showed potential there, sparking Forest’s interest.

Sadly, Bade ended up just being another name in Forest’s summer spending spree and he wasn’t even given a chance to shine.

It maybe isn’t too much of a surprise to see that Bade has now kicked on again with Sevilla and is turning in strong displays.

Sevillismo praised Bade as ‘impeccable’ just last week and Sevilla will surely chase a permanent deal for the 23-year-old.

Tottenham really need defensive depth though and Bade could offer real competition for Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.

Taking a chance on a player Forest binned in January may be a gamble, but Bade is justifying Tottenham’s interest right now.
