Jose Enrique has claimed that Chelsea will now ‘get Roberto De Zerbi’ from Brighton and Hove Albion after they sacked Graham Potter as manager ahead of their Tuesday night clash against Liverpool.

The Liverpool-mad pundit might have made those comments in a tongue-in-cheek way, but this probably boosts Jurgen Klopp’s chances of picking up some much-needed points when they travel to out-of-sorts Chelsea.

Chelsea’s 2-0 home defeat to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Saturday was the last straw for Graham Potter, who lasted just seven months in the job, after replacing Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge back in September.

Well, ahead of their meeting with the Reds, not many would have expected this to be a battle between a side sitting eighth and 11th in the Premier League table this season, but that’s what it is.

It’s a crazy situation both sides find themselves in, probably more so for those in West London because of the stupid amount of money that has been spent under the new owner, Todd Boehly.

Either way, former left-back Jose Enrique added that he ‘didn’t expect’ the sacking of Potter, as he put forward Roberto De Zerbi’s name – there have been suggestions that managerless Tottenham are looking at the Italian.

The issue for Chelsea is that even if they avoid defeat to Liverpool in front of their own supporters, they might still find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Whilst Champions League football, and even a possible European finish, is out of the picture for the managerless club, those on Merseyside can still save themselves in the Premier League.

Eight points separate Liverpool and third-placed Newcastle United, with the likes of Brentford, Brighton, Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle all feeling that they have some sort of chance to secure Champions League football.
