Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with Mason Mount, and Paul Merson cannot believe that Chelsea could potentially sell the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal star has said on Sky Sports News that Chelsea simply have to keep Mount beyond the end of the season.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that the 24-year-old is a very good midfielder who should be part of the Chelsea team for the coming years.
The England international midfielder has been linked with Merson’s former club Arsenal as well as with Liverpool.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all are interested in signing Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Goal have reported that Arsenal have opened talks about a potential move for the Englishman.

Merson said, as transcribed by TCC: “There are 30 players there — it’s ridiculous. For me, you’ve got to keep Mason Mount straight away.
“Mount looks like the one going [this summer], and you’re like ‘wow’.
“All right, he hasn’t been great this season and hasn’t been playing a lot because of his injury, but he’s one of their standout players last season and one of England’s best players.
“So, for me, it needs to change quickly.”
HITC Verdict: Chelsea should keep Mount
In our view, Chelsea should keep Mason Mount and try to get a new deal with him sorted.
Arsenal and Liverpool are massive clubs, and the chance to play for the Gunners or the Reds could be tempting for the 24-year-old.
But, Chelsea are big as well and are a global brand, and the Blues should do their utmost to keep hold of an academy graduate who is only 24 now and could become world class in the coming years.
