Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain chip firm has announced that the recruitment for clinical trials will eventually be open to the public after the FDA-approved human trials.
Elon Musk‘s company recently made some big announcements about its brain chip and people are curious to find out where it goes.
The news comes weeks after Elon announced that Linda Yaccarino will be the new CEO of Twitter.
Recruitment for clinical trials to take place soon
Recruitment for the clinical trials for brain chips will eventually be open to the public. The same was confirmed by Neuralink as they wrote: “Recruitment is not yet open for our clinical trial. We’ll announce more information on this soon!”
As of now, those who are interested can join their patient registry on the website. This will allow you to understand if you can qualify for future trials.
All you have to do is answer certain questions such as your legal age, if you are a permanent resident or not, and many more.
Following this, the application will ask for your consent along with personal and health information.
What we know about Neuralink
The company hopes to use technology to help people with unmet medical needs. At the moment, it is focused on providing people with quadriplegia the ability to control computers and mobiles with thoughts.
Quadriplegia is a condition where an individual suffers paralysis below the neck, including their hands and legs.
Neuralink hopes that its technology will one day be able to help people restore capabilities such as vision, motor function, speech, and more.
FDA approves human trials
On May 26, Newuralink confirmed that FDA had approved these trials.
In the tweet, the company wrote: “We are excited to share that we have received the FDA’s approval to launch our first-in-human clinical study!”
“This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA and represents an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people,” continued the statement.
Elon also congratulated the team as people wait to see how this technology will shape the world.
