Kalvin Phillips has said that he wants to stay at Manchester City, amid claims that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and David Moyes’s West Ham United want to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.
The Daily Star reported in April that Liverpool are keen on the former Leeds United midfielder.
The Reds are reportedly ready to offer £35 million in transfer fees for the 27-year-old.
Earlier this month, 90min claimed that West Ham are looking into the possibility of bringing the England international midfielder to London Stadium.
However, Phillips, who earns £160,000 per week (SalarySport), has made it clear that he wants to stay at City.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has quoted the midfielder as saying: “I’m looking forward to spending a good five more years here at Man City.
“I came here to win trophies and play football, I’ve not done as much as I’d like this season — pre season I’ll come back as fit as possible.”
Kalvin Phillips blow for Liverpool and West Ham United
In our view, that Kalvin Phillips wants to stay at Manchester City is a blow for Liverpool and West Ham United.
Yes, the former Leeds United midfielder is a peripheral figure at City now, but it is hard to see him leave the Premier League champions after just one season.
Phillips moved to City from Leeds only in the summer of 2022.
We think that the England international will give it at least another season at City.
