Paul Robinson now believes Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Ruben Neves will leave Wolverhampton Wanderers. He seemed to say farewell on Saturday.
Wolves drew 1-1 with Everton in their final Premier League match at Molineux this season this Saturday afternoon. Neves played until the 88th minute before he walked off the pitch to a standing ovation. Yerry Mina then crucially drew the Toffees level in the 99th minute.
Neves faces an uncertain future in the West Midlands with the 26-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract. Wolves last extended the midfielder’s deal in July 2018 following his debut season at Molineux. He joined from Porto under Nuno Espirito Santo for £15m.

Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs keen on Neves
The Portuguese has since become an instrumental figure at Molineux and became the club captain last summer. Neves took over the armband as Conor Coady joined Everton on loan. The midfielder has also started 33 of his 34 Premier League appearances so far this season.
Neves’ importance for Wolves also extends to his joint-team-high six goals, plus one assist. But with a contract expiring in 2024, clubs are positioning themselves to test the Molineux outfit’s resolve. Although Sport reported this May that Wolves would want €50m (£43.5m).
Wolves’ asking price for Neves’ transfer will likely be too much for Barcelona to afford with the Catalan club keen. But 90min also reported this March that Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle have asked to be kept informed of Neves’ situation as Wolves eyed a new deal.

Robinson now fully expects a transfer away from Wolves
The way that Liverpool and Tottenham target Neves waved to the Wolves supporters as he exited the field against Everton on Saturday has now convinced Robinson that he will leave Molineux in the next transfer window. Their fans’ response also helped to set his opinion.
“The ovation for Neves certainly did overshadow that of [Adama] Traore,” Robinson said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“If there was ever any doubt as to his future, I don’t think he will be staying here next season based on that ovation. Wherever he goes next he will leave Molineux with very fond memories.”
While Neves is out of contract in 2024, Traore will see his deal expire on June 30 this year. But it was Wolves’ Portuguese midfielder rather than the Spanish speedster at the centre of their supporters’ applause. Lopetegui replaced both in the 88th minute against Everton.
