Miss Universe Philippines recently crowned its 2023 beauty queen and it’s none other than well-known actress Michelle Dee.
Her 2023 win makes Michelle the second beauty queen to win both crowns – Miss World Philippines and Miss Universe Philippines. The first person to achieve the feat was Catriona Gray.
The model and actress took home the trophy on Saturday, May 13. She received the honor from 2022’s Miss Universe Philippines winner Celeste Cortesi. Michelle beat out 37 contestants to win the title.
More recently the Miss Universe pageant was in the news after some viewers confused 2023 winner R’Bonney Gabriel with the pageant’s transgender owner Anne Jakrajutatip.

Michelle is no stranger to stardom. The 28-year-old is a well-known model, actress, and host in the Philippines. Moreover, she is also the winner of the Miss World Philippines 2019 title.
In addition to her extensive exposure to fame, she is also the daughter of former pageant winner Melanie Marquez. Old-school pageant viewers might remember Michelle’s mother Melanie as the winner of
Miss International 1979.28-year-old Michelle began acting in 2019 with the Philippino TV series Pepito Manaloto. She then went on to appear in titles like Daig kayo ng lola ko (2019), Because I Love You (2019), Love You Two (2019), and more.
Her most recent acting job was in 2023’s Mga Lihim ni Urduja.
Michelle had emergency surgery weeks before Miss Universe win
As per Philippine Entertainment Portal, the pageant winner underwent surgery for hemorrhage and bleeding on her 28th birthday recently.
Michelle reportedly also posted selfies showing her lying on a hospital bed,
on her Instagram story.She also kept her fans up to date about her condition on Twitter. The Miss Universe winner’s surgery came weeks before her coronation.
