Mattel’s latest collaboration with Monster High was so well received that the Chucky and Tiffany dolls sold out before people even realized they were on sale.
One of the most notorious horror icons of all time, Chucky has been lurking in the back of the dreams of children (and adults) for over three decades now.
And yet, when Mattel announced they were teaming up with Monster High to release an exclusive set of Chucky dolls, alongside a model of the equally frightening Tiffany Valentine, the internet simply couldn’t get enough of it.
Mattel’s Monster High Chucky dolls make quite the splash
Selling out in under 10 minutes is a feat typically only achieved by music stars flogging tickets for world tours, but, as Monster High has shown, there appears to be a pretty big demand online for dolls.
Having only been announced by Monster High on Instagram on the day, Tiffany and Chucky’s Mattel debut went live on May 1 and within ten minutes, every single one was snapped up.
Despite being listed at $90 for the pair and being limited to two per customer, the internet clearly couldn’t get enough of the collaboration which saw Chucky sporting dungarees and the classic stripy jumper, with Tiffany opting for her signature leather jacket.
Monster High and Mattel have been collaborating on toys since 2022, though none of their previous joint releases have generated as much hype, and subsequently caused so much hurt online, as the Chucky drop has.

It feels like all of Twitter lost out
Given the short turnaround time between the last-minute announcement and the subsequent sell-out, it seems like the vast majority of potential buyers did not manage to get their hands on a Chucky and Tiffany set.
Needless to say, the reaction on Twitter hasn’t been great:
And if selling out instantly wasn’t bad enough, one user claimed that the dolls were already being listed on eBay by second-and sellers at an inflated price:
Other Mattel Monster High Dolls are available
Thankfully, however, if you missed out on the Chucky set, there are still other dolls made by Mattel in collaboration with Monster High that are still available.
Though the collection is largely sold out, there are two sets that you can get your hands on if you are willing to invest in non-Chucky-related memorabilia.
At the time of writing on May 2, the Cleo and Deuce Howliday double pack is available to purchase from Mattel for $60, and the Haunt Couture Midnight Runway Frankie Stein doll is available for pre-order, and will be released in early July.
If dolls aren’t your thing, you can also pick up t-shits, hoodies and a tote bag in the collaboration, none of which will hurt your bank account as much as the Chucky dolls.
