Julian Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur but even he isn’t sure whether they actually want him.
Tottenham Hotspur’s approach to appointing a new boss has been so confusing that Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t even know if they want him.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham are no closer to finding a replacement for Antonio Conte.
It’s stated that agents of coaches around Europe have been left in the dark after receiving initial contact from Spurs, which wasn’t followed up on.
Even Nagelsmann has been left confused as he isn’t even sure whether Tottenham really want him or not.
Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with the job but it seems Spurs haven’t actually made the German aware of their intentions.
Hailed as a ‘great coach’ by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni, Nagelsmann has been out of work since losing his job at Bayern Munich in March.
Links to Chelsea didn’t go anywhere and it looks like rumours with Tottenham are going to go the same way.
Tottenham’s managerial approach is so bizarre amid Julian Nagelsmann confusion
Tottenham fans are already baffled.
Spurs have now had weeks to get their targets lined up but there doesn’t seem to be a plan in place.
Arne Slot won’t be coming in from Feyenoord whilst Mauricio Pochettino has inexplicably been ignored and allowed to join Chelsea.
Nagelsmann seemed like the top target but even he doesn’t seem to know whether Spurs are all that interested.
The Times reported last weekend that talks with Nagelsmann were back on as Tottenham attempted to resurrect a move.
That rumour hasn’t moved forward though and Nagelsmann is currently in the dark over whether Spurs are pushing for him.
Ignoring Pochettino’s availability is one thing but to not even let a prime candidate know if they want him? Tottenham’s managerial search is starting to feel very similar to the mess of 2021.
