Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Declan Rice, but it appears that there is disagreement among the key figures at West Ham United over a potential transfer.
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal want to sign Declan Rice from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
Now, while the Hammers are resigned to closing the England international midfielder, there is disagreement among the key figures at the Hammers about the structure of the deal.
The West Ham hierarchy want around £85-£95 million in transfer fees paid upfront.
West Ham manager David Moyes, though, “wants a part-exchange deal that would immediately bolster his squad but would not be as lucrative financially”, according to the report.
Football Transfers have claimed that Moyes would like to have Reiss Nelson, Folarin Balogun and Albert Sambi-Lokonga at West Ham
“Key for the West Ham board, meanwhile, is the structure of the deal,” the report adds.
“The more money that Mikel Arteta’s side offer as an advance on Rice’s transfer fee, the more attractive it is to their London rivals.”

Arsenal have advantage in Declan Rice talks
In our view, Arsenal clearly have the advantage in talks regarding Declan Rice.
West Ham United are very unlikely to convince Rice to stay and sign a new contract with the Hammers.
The 24-year-old, described as “a diamond and a fabulous player” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on Premier League Productions (29/04/23 at 11:50 am), is one of the best midfielders around, and he could develop into a world-class player in the coming years.
Arsenal will be aware that they are a very appealing club, and we believe that Rice would love to move to the Gunners.
