Arsenal target Brennan Johnson has been clocked as one of the fastest Premier League players this season.
The Premier League’s fastest players have been named – and Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson is included.
Speed kills in football and most clubs are desperate to add more pace to their teams.
Opta have now released the list of the fastest Premier League players from the 2022-23 season.
Kyle Walker – one of the few defenders in the world who can keep up with Vinicius Junior – unsurprisingly sits at the top of the list.
There may be some surprise at the second name on the list though as Brennan Johnson takes the silver medal.
Johnson is a quality player and certainly caused problems with his ‘incredible pace’, as highlighted by .
Mykhailo Mudryk is in third, only a shade slower than Johnson with Anthony Gordon and Darwin Nunez rounding out the top five.
Arsenal interested in signing Brennan Johnson
Arsenal missed out on the aforementioned Mudryk in January as Chelsea hijacked their deal for the Ukrainian.
The Gunners may still want that kind of pace out wide and now appear to be chasing Johnson.
Football Transfers reported in May that Arsenal are very interested in signing Johnson this summer.
Going for one of the few Premier League players faster than Mudryk suggests that Arsenal are looking for real speed in attack.
Gabriel Martinelli already has terrifying pace but Johnson could take that to another level.
The problem for Arsenal is that Forest avoided relegation.
A deal for Johnson would have been much easier to imagine had Forest suffered relegation to the Championship.
Forest stayed up though and will surely fight hard to keep hold of Johnson, no doubt demanding a huge fee if Arsenal make a move.
We can’t see Johnson leaving this summer, which may force Arsenal to look elsewhere – and that may mean going for another player with exceptional speed.
