Juneteenth, which is set to be a federal holiday this year, brings with it celebrations that will be noted on June 19, but will Amazon deliver on Juneteenth?
June 19 is marked as a day of celebration as people come together for Juneteenth, a day that is remembered for the emancipation of slavery.
In 2021, it was officially recognized as a federal holiday, like other big days such as New Year‘s Christmas.
Does Amazon deliver on Juneteenth in 2023?
As per a report, Amazon delivery will occur as usual despite the day being a federal holiday. However, the company does pause its delivery for days such as Memorial day, Thanksgiving, and more.
Nonetheless, over the years the company has taken certain measures to mark Juneteenth. Back in 2021, Amazon spoke about using Juneteenth as a day to “reflect, celebrate, educate, and advocate.”
In a statement, the company announced a list of internal and external programs that were designed especially for this day.
Stores and restaurants that will be open on Juneteenth
Amazon is not the only company that will function as usual for its customers. There are several other stores and restaurants that are following the same path. Some of them have been listed below:
- Home Depot
- Dollar General
- IKEA
- Lowe’s
- Chipotle
- Starbucks
- Wendy’s
- Dunkin’ Donuts
- McDonald‘s
- Burger King
- Aldi
- Kroger
- Publix
- Costco
- Trader Joe’s
Some government-run services will be closed
Given that Juneteenth is noted to be a federal holiday there are a couple of government-run services that will be closed. For instance, the banks will be closed on this day and will only open on June 20.
At the same time, the stock market will be closed for the day. Customers will also have to wait until Tuesday to get access to the post office.

- Labor Day: 1st Monday in September
- Columbus Day: 2nd Monday in October
- Veterans’ Day: November 11
- Thanksgiving Day: 4th Thursday in November
- Christmas Day: December 25
