Victor Wembanyama is the French basketball phenom who is widely expected to be selected 1st overall by the San Antonio Spurs. The 7ft 4in teenager has been described as a generational talent the likes of which the NBA has never seen before.
The 19-year-old’s NBA career officially starts tonight with the draft, and it could very well be the beginning of a Hall of Fame career.
He comes from a family of athletes
Victor was perhaps always destined to become a superstar athlete. He was born in Le Chesnay, France, to parents Felix and Elodie.
His father was a Congolese track and field competitor who competed in the triple jump, long jump, and high jump, while his mother played basketball and later coached him.

Fans are also curious to know if Victor Wembanyama has siblings. Indeed he does; he has an older sister, Eve, and a younger brother, Oscar.
Like Victor, 21-year-old Eve Wembanyama is also a basketball player, and helped France win the FIBA-U16 Women’s European Championship in 2016.
Eve, who is listed as a 6ft 1in small forward, competes for Monaco in the Ligue Feminine 2 De, the second division of women’s professional basketball in France. She has previously played for Lyon and Calais, and has averaged 6.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists this season.
Victor and his sister Eve Wembanyama are incredibly close, and she often shares pictures of her brother to Instagram. Eve is on IG @eve_wemba where she has 11.5k followers.
Victor Wembanyama’s younger brother Oscar also loves hoops
Victor also has a younger brother, Oscar, who is fifteen years old. Oscar played handball while growing up but transitioned into basketball as he progressed through adolescence.
The 6ft 6in teenager made his basketball debut in 2020 for Nanterre’s U-15 team, the same team Victor used to play for.
In 2022, Oscar signed with ASVEL after Victor left to play for Metropolitans 92.
