Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly confident that they will be able to bring Jurrien Timber to the Emirates Stadium.
According to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that the Gunners have had an opening bid of €35 million (£30.09 million) for Timber turned down.
Ajax want as much as €60 million (£51.59 million) to sell the 22-year-old Netherlands international defender in the summer transfer window.
However, according to 90min, Arsenal are “hopeful of bringing Ajax’s demands down to a figure below €50m (£42.99m) and there is confidence that a deal will soon be struck”.
The report has added that Timber “keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium” in the summer of 2023.
Exciting Jurrien Timber update for Arsenal fans
In our opinion, Arsenal fans will be hugely excited at this update on Jurrien Timber.
Now, of course, Ajax will try to get as much money as they can for the defender, but that Arsenal are confident of getting a deal done is hugely encouraging for the Emirates Stadium faithful.
Timber, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, has played 15 times for the Netherlands national football team and has been a regular for Ajax over the years.
We believe that the youngster would be a good signing for Arsenal, not just for now, but for years to come as well.
The Ajax no. 2 scored two goals and gave two assists in 34 Eredivisie matches last season.
Timber also made six appearances in the UEFA Champions League and played twice in the UEFA Europa League for Ajax last season.
