Tottenham Hotspur reportedly anticipated a bid from Chelsea for star striker Harry Kane after former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was appointed the Blues manager.

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur thought that Chelsea would try to sign Harry Kane after Mauricio Pochettino was hired as the Blues manager.

Pochettino worked with Kane at Tottenham.

The Argentine was appointed the Chelsea head coach a few weeks ago.

90min have added that it is increasingly likely that the £200,000-a-week (The Sun) England international striker will stay at Tottenham.

Kane is out of contract at Spurs at the end of next season.

The Independent reported in May that Pochettino had discussed with the Chelsea bosses the prospect of bringing Kane to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023.

Manchester United have also been linked with Kane.

Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur to Chelsea always unlikely

In our opinion, it was always unlikely that Harry Kane would leave Tottenham Hotspur for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham and Chelsea are bitter London rivals, and Kane is unlikely to cross that divide.

After all, the striker is a Spurs legend, and the England international will surely not want to tarnish that.

Even if Chelsea made an offer for Kane, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was always unlikely to sell him to the Blues.
