Leeds United are eyeing up a move for Steven Gerrard as they seek to bring him and Gary McAllister to Elland Road.

Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister could reunite with a move to Leeds United now thought to be in the pipeline.

That is according to The Mirror, who claim that Gerrard and Mac Allister actually came close to joining Leeds earlier this year.

The former Aston Villa duo were targeted by Leeds after the sacking of Jesse Marsch, but the job went to Javi Gracia.

That move ended terribly and bringing in Sam Allardyce didn’t go much better, ending with Leeds suffering relegation.

Now heading down to the Championship, Leeds are looking for a new manager yet again with Gerrard back on the radar.

It’s stated that Gerrard is really interested in the job of reviving Leeds following their relegation from the Premier League.

The report adds that Gerrard and McAllister are ‘on standby’ for the Leeds job with the Whites also looking at West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan.

Gary McAllister would surely love to join Steven Gerrard at Leeds United

Leeds fans will probably feel pretty divided about Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend did well at Rangers, winning the Scottish Premiership table back in 2021.

Gerrard then moved on to Aston Villa, where his reputation took a real hit as he lost his job inside a year.

Now seeking another managerial opportunity to get his carer back on track, Gerrard understandably fancies a move to Leeds.

Whether he is the right man for the job is up for debate but having McAllister with him would be appealing.

McAllister was a Leeds favourite in his playing days, racking up more than 200 appearances for the club as a midfielder.

McAllister returned as Leeds manager back in 2008, guiding the Whites into the League One playoff final only to lose to Doncaster Rovers.

The Scot lasted less than a year in charge but remains a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds fans would likely feel a little more comfortable with Gerrard coming in as long as a club hero like McAllister is joining him, just as he did at Rangers and Villa.

McAllister himself would surely love the move, having the chance to write another chapter in his history with Leeds.
