Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a deal for Harry Maguire – long after Harry Kane recommended a move for him.
Harry Maguire could leave Manchester United this summer with Tottenham Hotspur running checks on the defender.
The Daily Mail claim that Erik ten Hag is open to selling Maguire this summer – even though the England ace isn’t pushing for an exit.
Maguire is at least keeping his options open though and Tottenham have been exploring a move.
It’s claimed that Tottenham have ‘made checks’ on Maguire’s situation as they show an interest in the 30-year-old.
Tottenham are thought to be ‘well-placed’ to make a move for Maguire but much will depend on Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian was appointed as Tottenham’s new manager on Tuesday morning and will have a big say on recruitment.
If everyone agrees on Maguire, Tottenham may well launch a move to rescue the former Leicester City man.
Maguire doesn’t want another season sitting on the United bench – especially with Euro 2024 on the horizon.
Gareth Southgate has continued to back Maguire but he needs games with a major tournament coming up next summer.

The Mail’s report notes that Tottenham superstar Harry Kane is very close with Maguire from England duty.
The Telegraph go a step further; they claim that Kane has previously told Tottenham to make a move for Maguire.
Tottenham were never able to sign Maguire despite Kane urging them to pounce for his services.
Mauricio Pochettino wanted to sign Maguire from Hull City but Leicester City won the race in the summer of 2017.
Just two years later, Maguire was on the move again as he completed a staggering £80million move to United.
Maguire has now fallen down the pecking order and the time may be right for him to move on and have a fresh start elsewhere.
Tottenham could finally bring Maguire to North London after all, and may even see his arrival as a way to tempt Kane into staying.
