Michael Owen has backed Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur’s call to appoint Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as their next manager.

The former England striker posted on Twitter that ‘for the first time’ in years Spurs are bringing in a manager that ‘fits their famed style of play’.

In previous times, it has been Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte that have taken to the Tottenham dugout, but now it’s going to be Celtic’s treble-winning coach,

Whether or not the 57-year-old is going to be a success in the Premier League is a different story, but one thing is for sure, one box has been ticked and that’s an ‘entertaining style of play’.

Amid all of the club’s issues over the years, or since Mauricio Pochettino left, the one big issue has been the backfoot style of play that has just annoyed fans even further.

Well, they can’t complain anymore because Postecoglou is very much a forward-thinking coach and Michael Owen likes the road they have gone down:

“If @SpursOfficial secure Postecoglou it will be the first time they’ve secured a manager that fits their famed style of play in years. I think he’s top class and it’ll be a bitter blow for @CelticFC to lose him.”

Pressure still on Daniel Levy?

There were bigger names that the Spurs chairman, alongside new football chief officer Scott Munn, could have brought in, from Luis Enrique to Julian Nagelsmann.

But they have been down the ‘big-name’ road before, and if anything, by the end of it all, they have gone backwards.

So, perhaps, just perhaps, this appointment will sing differently and start to iron out the issues at Tottenham, show some progression and all whilst trying to play an attacking brand of football.
