Kid’s show Bluey has had multiple episodes banned in the past for various reasons, including crude humor and a dad joke about a baby.

UK viewers have been treated to part two of the third season of Bluey this week – an ever-increasingly popular family TV favorite, that has spent the last five years winning over the hearts of children and parents alike. The adorable cartoon is aimed at children in the 5-7 age bracket, but the show has fallen victim to content rules on multiple occasions, meaning some less-than-adorable moments have seen numerous episodes be banned and/or censored to protect the young audience.

Several Bluey episodes have previously been banned or altered

One would think that, given the volume of adult-themed content available on television and streaming services at any given time, wholesome kids shows like Bluey would be of minimal concern to the powers that be who monitor what we watch.

But, as it transpires, the opposite is true – shows made for children tend to suffer from more cancellations and strict edits than any other type of television.

Because of such regulations, Bluey boasts a list of banned or edited episodes that would give the likes of Family Guy or South Park a run for its money, despite the reasoning for such cancellations often appearing rather harsh.

It is believed that US audiences suffer the most from edits to the show, as the country’s host network, Disney+, has censored some episodes that are still available in other places.

According to reports, no less than 16 episodes of Bluey have either been censored or banned and though the reasoning for each one makes sense, some of them are quite amusing.

Season 1 episode Markest was censored, for example, with the Disney+ version opting to edit out unicorn feces, while a moment wherein a character gets hit in the groin was removed from the US version of season 3 episode Born Yesterday.

Some episodes have avoided the censoring stage and have been banned altogether. Bluey season 2 episode Dad Baby was banned from Disney and the US entirely, after Bandit, the father, pretended to give birth to a baby.

The authorities also appear to monitor the show for any themes which could harm children down the line and chose to edit out the first minute of the season 3 episode, Exercise, over concerns surrounding body dysmorphia.

Can you now watch all episodes of Bluey?

If you get your fill of Bluey from a streaming service that isn’t Disney+, such as BBC iPlayer, then yes, you should be able to watch all episodes of Bluey.

For those who do watch Bluey on Disney+ though, there are two episodes missing. Obviously, the aforementioned Dad Baby can no longer be streamed, but an episode from season 1 is also missing.

Episode 48 of the first season, Teasing, is not available to watch on Disney+ in some areas, after it was embroiled in a controversy over the use of the term that is considered offensive to African and Indigenous people.

An edited version of the episode does exist, though it is unavailable to watch in the US.
