Don Hutchison says Dominik Szoboszlai’s arrival will now ‘block the pathway’ for Liverpool duo Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones.
The Hungary captain became Liverpool’s second midfield signing of the summer after Alexis Mac Allister’s signature was secured before the summer transfer window opened.
Whilst Dominik Szoboszlai might decrease the game time of Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic, it was put forward by Hutchison that it’s all part of being at ‘big clubs’, as he told ESPN.
And after last season’s capitulation, if there is one area of the pitch Jurgen Klopp needs to overcrowd, then it’s the middle of the park.
That was the heart of many major issues for the Reds last season, both going forward and especially in defence, as they lost that bite and aggression without the ball.
If that competition can be ignited with the above players, including with the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, to name a few, then the club might just get back on track.
“If Szoboszlai can hit the ground running, it’s going to block the pathway for people like Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic getting into the team,” said Hutchison.
“But when you are in the big clubs, then you have to perform. Talent-wise, he is right up there.”
Jones and Bajcetic need to be pushed
This will only enhance the game of the Liverpool duo, who might find that their regular minutes might come in the Europa League.
After reaching three Champions League finals under Klopp, entering the Europa League will feel like a step down for Liverpool.
But it doesn’t mean that they can’t and won’t take it seriously because a trophy is a trophy, at the end of the day.
